The word nature is derived from the Latin term natura, or "essential attributes, innate disposition", and in historical times, literally intended "birth". Natura is a Latin translation of the Greek word physis (φύσις), which actually related to the intrinsic characteristics that crops, pets or animals, and other features of the entire world develop of their own accord. The idea of nature all together, the physical world, is one of several expansions of the initial notion; it commenced with certain central applications of the term φύσις by pre-Socratic philosophers, and has progressively gained currency ever since. This usage prolonged during the arrival of modern technological method within the last several centuries.
